Washing our hands is the number one safety precaution universally advised to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. But without easy access to soap and hot water, we need an eco-friendly, effective alternative. With the danger posed by Covid-19 and a nationwide lack of hand sanitizers, A Zero Waste Culture began making all natural hand sanitizers following sustainable practices.

We source as sustainably as possible 99% alcohol in bulk locally, use aloe vera from donated plants and add tea tree oil, a powerful antibacterial, lemongrass, orange or other essential oils that we have available, beautifully scenting the hand sanitizers while adding to their antiviral properties.

After thorough research, and always focusing on the most sustainable practices possible, this  is what we used:

• 1 ½ cups of 75 alcohol
• 1 cup of pure aloe Vera directly from plant
• Peeling leaves and extracting gel
• + 10 drops tea tree oil
• + 5 drops of Vitamin E oil
• + 5 drops lemongrass essential oil
• + 5 drops orange essential oil

While our hand-sanitizer contains natural antiviral ingredients, it has never been tested in a lab to determine its efficacy against viruses such as the coronavirus
