A Zero Waste Culture
Board

Helena Iturralde, Director

Helena Iturralde has worked and lived sustainably throughout her life. She created a business upscaling second-hand furniture, a zero waste catering company and began educating members of her community on how to reduce, reuse, refill and – most importantly – to refuse.

When she came to Miami from Spain, Helena was profoundly shocked by the incredible amount of single use plastics and the ineffective solution in place of single stream recycling. She had a feeling of panic that we were drowning in plastics, and being buried under trash, and that she had to do something about it. She decided it was time to think big, act local, and do everything she could to make an impact big enough to be felt, and so A Zero Waste Culture took shape as a non-profit on a mission.
